Protocol for Referring Vets

Our multi-disciplinary referrals team has a combined 250+ years of experience in providing the highest standards of veterinary care, perfecting their crafts to ensure your pets have access to the very best clinical care. With 3 RCVS Advanced Practitioners and 3 Specialists within the team you can be confident of the very best level of knowledge in a truly multi-disciplinary independent referral clinic.

1. Referral & Booking

  • Complete referral form with clinical history, previous imaging, bloods (if available), and contact details.
  • Indicate if contrast studies may be required.   

2. Admission

  • Patient admitted by an RVN (ID check, fasting status, weight, baseline obs, IV access if needed).
  • Consent obtained; sedation/anaesthesia plan confirmed. 

3. Imaging

  • Procedure performed by a specialist/radiographer/RVN under supervision.
  • Monitoring by RVN/anaesthetists throughout.

4. Recovery & Discharge

  • Patient monitored post-procedure until stable.
  • RVN discharges with instructions (medications, activity, follow-up). 

5. Reporting

  • Full diagnostic report sent to the referring vet.
  • Urgent/critical findings relayed by phone
  • Urgent reports available.

6. If Inpatient Care/Procedure Needed

  • Submit a new referral form, selecting the relevant department.
